Business Student Competition

  • "We're thrilled that in only its third year, this award is inspiring Nuts and Bolts students from all over North America to excel in both their technical and business skills. It's incredibly rewarding to see our industry working together to encourage this kind of excellence. Finally, we are being recognized for our business savvy as well as our technical skills. The end result? ... Nuts and Bolts Graduates will have a much better chance of finding a good job faster."Nuts and Bolts President and CEO, Jim Yates
  • 1st place, 3rd annual International Business Student of the Year for Esthetics

"Initially, when I started school I felt defeated- I could hardly sell anything and my client services were so low! I began to meditate on a few key points from the Nuts and Bolts training- to work smarter, not harder; WOW my customers; and problem solve, not sell. Once I overcame my fears and began applying these philosophies, I saw my numbers change dramatically. I began to reach my service and retail goals on a regular basis and received great customer feedback."Nikki Hynek, Nuts and Bolts Graduate, Capri College, Cedar Rapids, IA

Nuts and Bolts International Business student of the Year Competition (IBSY)

At Nuts and Bolts, we care about the future of each and every student involved in the program. Therefore, we think it’s important to recognize those outstanding students who have embraced what they’ve learned.

Every year, Nuts and Bolts holds a competition called The International Business Student of the Year Award. The criteria considered for this award includes: retail sales, up-servicing, average ticket amount and overall excellence in customer service.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in the categories of Cosmetology and Esthetics are announced at the International Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach at an awards ceremony. The winners receive amazing prizes including cash as well as higher education provided by our partners, The Wella School Program.

At the 2011 International Salon and Spa Expo, Nuts and Bolts Training Company named the recipients of the 3rd Annual International Business Student of the Year award. Nikki Hynek of Capri College in Cedar Rapids Iowa won top honors for the Esthetics Division while Steven Thompson came in first for the cosmetology division. The criteria considered for this award included: retail sales, up servicing, average ticket amount and customer service. In addition, students had to submit a 3-5 minute video outlining their goals for the future. The top winners enjoyed cash prizes from Nuts and Bolts, Educational vouchers from Wella Professionals and Dermologica, products from Hai Elite, and much more.
